Adiyogi Chikkaballapur Bangalore – A Spiritual Retreat Just 60 KM from the City

Just an hour’s drive from Bangalore lies a peaceful spiritual escape — the Adiyogi statue in Chikkaballapur. Set against the backdrop of Nandi Hills, this 112-ft-tall Lord Shiva statue is a visual masterpiece and a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.

Whether you are spiritual, curious, or love scenic drives, this place has something for you. Visiting the Adiyogi in Chikkaballapur near Bangalore has been on my bucket list since its inauguration in January 2023. I kept hearing from everyone who visited that it was always extremely crowded, which made me wary, as I do not enjoy visiting very overcrowded places. Eventually, I visited the Adiyogi statue with my family on a weekday in July 2024.

The term Adiyogi translates to the first Yogi, which refers to Shiva, who imparted the knowledge of the science of Yoga more than 15000 years ago. We placed our footwear in the shoe rack before we entered the Naga Mantapa. Since I went on a Monday, the crowd was extremely small, and it felt peaceful with less commotion around. Many people were doing different offerings. We felt at peace within the Naga Mantapa.
